University to increase policy of pedestrian walking on side walks

This article also came from the New York Times and discussed how on campuses they have designed side walks in which they want people to use instead of simply walking where ever they want. Side walks are designed to keeep an ordenly fashiona and to prevent people from getting hit by cars and buses. How ever most people still avoid this idea of side walks and just walk where ever they please. I beleive this article relates to soical control becasue as we discussed in class we are being control and told what to do every step we take.

Missing Boy in Balloon was a Hoax By Parents

This article I read came from the New York Times and was about a little boy tha the parents reported that he was ain a home made ballon that had flown away and he was trapped inside. How ever when they found the ballon it was empty and when they found the boy the owrds he spoke led to suspicion of the whole situation. As it turns out the parents had hid the boy in the closet upstair s with some food and other things to simply attempt to becoem famous by the story. How ever they were charged and arrested but released on bail. As we discussed in class on this topic they manupilated the media into believing something that was no true and took control of this stroy and peole to make them believe there littel boy was trapped inside.

Teens ignore laws against texting while driving

This article I read in the New York Times and it happens to discuss the issue with texting and driving with teenagers and how it is unsafe. it discusses the fact that with mobile devices now central to their lives, young people often ignore laws against using cell phones or texting in the car at least one study has proven this so far. Teens are simply not going to listen if they are told no to do something especially this idea of not texting while driving all of them do this. Just here In ALbuquerque once you ge ton the road and look at the car beside you most the time the person is texting bu tno one seems to mind that is against the law and can be very dangerous. This can be related to social control because they are attmpting to control this texting ban of while driving which I believe is a good one but is simply they are not being able to get control of these teens.

This article came from MSN also and discusses the issue surrounding Tiger Woods and hsi family the day after his accident rumors came ou tthat he had cheated on his wife. Well as time went on more and more woman were coming foward and saying they also had an affair with Woods. His wife found out about the afiar and this caused a fight the evening after thanskgiving brtween them and led him to try and escape leading him to wreck his escalade at first the media said that his wife had saved him but soon after thats when the alleged affairs came out. I beleive the media is having a field day with this story and beleive that even though mos tstuff about the affair is true but the other hald the media is twisting around just to make more money off the sotry and again we are being controlled by the meida in trusting what they report is correct.

This article came from MSN and was about the recent article that suggested people cahnge their profiles are facebook from private to public so anyone could view them. well this article is a response from that previous article and discusses how updating your privacy could be easier and less work. It discusses how people were afraid to cahnge their profiel to public and how it neeeded to upgrade it privacy. However the people are demonstrating a form of social control by simply jsut going along with what they tell them to do and are being controlled to change what facebook wants them to change wheter its right or wrong but it seems like they just want everyone to have access to your profile and to know weverything about you.

Mix-Up prompts report of abduction attempt Police: Male fitting description says he was flagging down school bus

This article came from the Santa Fe New Mexican and happen to be about an attmepted abduction of a 10 year old girl. I recall the day this happened and how news quickly spread fast over the media and soon everyone was talking about it. I remember people sayinghow the streets were not safe nd how it is not safe for children to be wiating on the road waiting for the bus. The story was raising alot of questions about secuirty and safety of the children from the bus to their walk home. However soon after we learned that the media go their facts mixed up as they sometimes do and learn this was not an attempted abduction the guy was trying to flag the bus down not take the girl. So once again here is an example of social control because the community is so controlled to believe the media and assume they are right but once again we are reminded that we cant beleive everything we read in the papers or hear on the news.

NM delegation assured state's licenses OK for travel

This article happen to come from the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper. This article addresses the recent idea that after January you would need a passpor to fly anywhere but how ever this artcile questions that statement and after long thoughts they have decided that any New Mexico resident without a passport will be able to get on domestic airline flights after Dec. 31 without a problem, members of the state's Congressional delegation have been told this recently.

It is also stated that "New Mexico's failure to comply with new federal rules on issuing driver's licenses had raised the prospect that such credentials wouldn't pass legal muster for getting through airport security checkpoints beginning next year".
